How this estimate works

The calculator applies the selected policy’s capacity factor to the aggregate capacity devices, then holds back the operational reserve and projected growth allowance. It does not estimate deduplication, compression, snapshots, metadata, failure-domain layouts, performance, or licensing.

For new designs, VMware by Broadcom recommends ESA where supported, compatible hardware and drivers, balanced configurations, and enough capacity to recover from a host failure. Validate final sizing with current Broadcom documentation and the VMware Compatibility Guide.
